Case Study
How Trifus helped a famous brewer Update an LMS—and lower the cost of supporting it.

What the Customer Wanted:
This maker of leading beer brands was frustrated with their existing Learning Management System (LMS) because of user and technical issues. The complicated learner interface for its training system for packaging plant employees was resulting in excessively high call volumes to customer support and reducing employee willingness to complete training. Also, Training Managers in the field were frustrated by the lack of Web access for this customer/server based application.

At the same time, the company had invested millions of dollars in custom laserdisc and CD-ROM-based courses which were becoming increasingly impossible to deliver and track as technology evolved. The company needed a partner for an ongoing relationship that would bring their e-Learning systems up to date—and keep them there.

What Trifus Did:
Trifus began by conducting a thorough needs analysis and recommending LMS support, integration, and modifications to suit the customer’s training needs. The experts at Trifus helped prioritize the customer's concerns and implement a strategy that kept both the business goals and budget in focus.

To cut down on the time devoted to support calls, Trifus deployed a new learner application with a much more intuitive and efficient interface—eliminating the previously redundant and overly complex course registration and launching process. Next, Trifus created a customized Web-based training management application, the Trifus Web Manager, to allow the customer's training managers anytime, anywhere access and to increase the functionality and efficiency of the system.

Trifus further extended the customer's training options by integrating a collaboration tool from Interwise with the LMS. Trifus also developed integrations for third-party courseware that allowed the customer's LMS to track and report on student progress across a wide variety of content areas regardless of vendor, location or compliance with industry standards. For future training needs, Trifus utilized its position as a value-added reseller for major courseware providers to make additional courseware and support available from a single source.

To provide further savings on courseware, Trifus experts were able to re-purpose legacy content into a Web-deliverable format. Finally, Trifus provided ongoing support and training for the entire e-Learning program.

The Results Achieved:
Trifus was able to immediately resolve several lingering technical support issues associated with the LMS. The new learner and training manager applications resulted in a significant reduction of support calls and a substantial increase in productivity and learner satisfaction.

By re-purposing rich media training content covering machine operation and safety, the organization was able to avoid writing off its previous investment. In addition, because of its expertise developing integrations, Trifus allowed the customer to utilize third party, customer-side courseware through its LMS that normally can only be tracked using proprietary systems. The Trifus supported e-Learning solution enabled the delivery of training to more employees, in less time, and with less costs than the previous year.
