What the Customer Wanted:
Based in California, this premier specialty retailer of home furnishings deployed its Learning Management System (LMS) on a Citrix Winframe platform, an antiquated system requiring intensive administration. Although the organization was heavily invested in this platform, costs threatened to spiral out of control as the customer tried to implement additional training to meet the needs of its growing organization.
The customer's in-house information technology staff simply did not have the expertise or the time to maintain the system at the level required to support the company’s needs. Moreover, the IT department did not intend to add headcount to support the training department's e-Learning initiative. Finally, the system didn’t support the Web access they badly wanted to add.
With budget concerns at the forefront, the customer desperately needed an affordable solution that would relieve the burden on its IT department while providing increased reliability to meet growing demand. The solution and support for it had to be available around the clock.
What Trifus Did:
The experts at Trifus quickly identified several options to address the organization's concerns. The customer selected a mix of options that allowed for continued use of its current LMS while transferring the hosting to tier one data centers with Trifus.
The customer also selected the Trifus Web Manager (TWM) as an add-on to its current LMS. This provided the customer with 24x7 Web-based access to its training functions for both end-users and training managers. Trifus implemented the total solution within two weeks and worked with the customer to configure the installation. Product training on TWM ensured that all the training managers were well versed in best practices before they started using the solution in a production environment.
The Results Achieved:
Trifus provided a simple, elegant solution to what seemed like a complicated problem. By hosting the solution with Trifus, the customer reduced its reliance on internal IT staff to almost zero and reduced its costs as well. The hosted solution also enabled the customer to consistently anticipate future costs of the e-Learning system. Most importantly, retaining the current LMS allowed the customer to get achieve additional ROI from its previous investment.
